The latest list of Machinery Directive Harmonised Standards was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJ) on 9 March 2018 (reference 2018/C 092/01). These Harmonised standards provide a presumption of conformity with the essential health and safety requirements (EHSRs) of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC (see below for definitions of Harmonised Standard and Machinery Directive ). In accordance with Article 7 of Directive 2006/42/EC machinery manufactured in conformity with a harmonised standard, the references to which have been published in the Official Journal of the European Union, is to be presumed to comply with the essential health and safety requirements covered by such a harmonised standard.

It reproduces information already published in the L or C series of the OJ as indicated in columns (2), (5) and/or (7). Directive 2006/42/EC is a revised version of the Machinery Directive, the first version of which was adopted in 1989. The Directive has the dual aim of harmonising the health and safety requirements applicable to machinery on the basis of a high level of protection of health and safety, while ensuring the free circulation of machinery on the EU market.
The Directive promotes harmonisation through a combination of mandatory health and safety requirements and voluntary harmonised standards. The references of harmonised standards for machinery drafted in support of Directive 2006/42/EC listed in Annex I to this Decision are hereby published in the Official Journal of the European Union. Bruksanvisning Directions for use
The Machinery Directive Guidelines should be adapted whenever necessary. We believe this would solve any potential point of concern quicker without having to wait for a new Machinery Directive. Some proposals should be discussed in the framework of the development to harmonised standards under the Machinery Directive .
